A large fruit native to tropic Americas, it's oblong shaped with a golden-yellow skin, orange-yellow flesh, and many shiny, grayish black seeds in the center cavity. The flesh is juicy and silky smooth, with an exotic sweet-tart flavor. Papayas contain papain, an enzyme used in meat tenderizers.
