A patent has recently been awarded to Juan J. Ramirez for a ceramic heat retentive plate, see patent 7,176,426 at:

It keeps food hot at the table

This is interesting. Are you aware that Corningware created a ceramic baking dish with a microwave enery retentive material called the "Radarange Browning Dish". The "Radarange" was Amana's original trademark for the first commercially available microwave ovens. In any event, I don't know if Corning patented it or not, but the concept has been out there for some time (30+ years) so you may have trouble protecting against any infringers. Few patent attorneys will take an infringement case on consignment.

The same thought I had when reading your other threads, if it is easy to handle with your bare hands, how will it manage to keep your food hot? I can see it keeping it warm, but unless it is going to burn your hand, it wont heat your food.

(I am not a mech-E and my knowlege of thermo is limited, so I can be wrong)

I'm thinking that Juan's invention doesn't actually heat food, it's designed to keep the food from cooling too quickly. It's probably warm to the touch (warmer that 98°F) and holds a lot of energy so it doesn't cool rapidly. I'm thinking warmed plates that last longer than normal plates that have been warmed.

The plate has a new composition of material very efficient to capture microwave energy(Also patent pending). Most of the energy is captured by a disk of this material, the rim actually acts as a handle.while the center of the plate is at about 210F and releases heat slowly.

Thank you for ypur comment, my plate is for serving, not cooking, zap it one minute in the micro, serve your food as usual, it will not get cold while you eat it. and yes, you can handle the plate with your bare hands by the rim (The whole rim is a handle).

Juan, you keep bringing up your wonderful plates again and again and again. How about telling us when they will be in production and where they can be obtained.
