I am hoping to find an easy/simple recipe for chocolate truffles. I like to make hand-made treats to hand out during the holidays, but not the traditional stuff that everybody else already does (like fudge). I'm hoping to find a simple enough recipe so that my children, ages 7 & 9, can help out. I figure if we find a recipe now, we can perfect it by next holiday season. Thanks for any assistance you can offer! |

truffles go from simple to very complex preps - this isn't what we used to do but it's similar:
http://allrecipes.co.uk/recipe/6344/easy-chocolate-truffles.aspx
the simple recipes use a (something)+powdered sugar instead of more involved preps of cream(s), exact temperatures, etc.
the trick to the simple ones is to perfect the type and amount of flavorings - too much peppermint, for example, makes for an overpowering candy....
the other trick I learned with our kids was to take some pains in prepping the coatings - chopped nuts / shredded coconut / etc - I would sieve (actually various colanders....for the size of the holes...) to ensure the pieces are a fairly consistent size.
another fun candy with kids is Buckeyes - peanut butter & 10x sugar - rolled into balls then dipped - but not completely - in chocolate.
