I've had a FoodSaver v2490 for oh, four or five years, and the damn thing quit sucking. Being a geek, I took it apart and isolated the likely vacuum leak and sealed it up with Teflon tape. No joy...
Out of desperation, I washed and dried the foam rubber gaskets, even though they were spotlessly clean, and replaced them back in the unit.
Whaddya know! Works like new.
So I'm guessing the foam rubber needs a tiny bit of water (or maybe some grease?) in order to form a good vacuum seal. |
