If a running refrigerator is left open inside a close closet, why does the closet warm up? Let's say you put a running refrigerator inside a closet, close the closet, open the refrigerator door, why does the closet warm up?

The refrigerator doesn't technically cool anything (that is, it does not create coldness). It achieves a colder interior by removing heat energy from the inside air and placing it outside of the refrigerator. In the process of doing so, the refrigerator generates some heat of its own which it also vents outside. However, if the "outside" of the refrigerator is a closed box (like the closet you mentioned) then all that heat is still inside the box. If the refrigerator worked at 100% efficiency (magic - no heat generated by the machinery in the refrigerator used to pump heat from inside to the outside) then the enclosed box's temperature would stay the same because the total thermal energy inside the box is the same as before (although the inside of the fridge might be cooler than the outside because it takes time for air to circulate to redistribute the heat). Since the refrigerator uses energy and produces heat in the process of working, the overall heat in the closed box increases and that's why it warms up. |

| I believe that putting bananas in the fridge will make its life longer and prevent it from spoiling easily. |

| bananas are great if it stay in fridge when ripened the taste is still nice for a long time but the skin gets blacky |
