Hey Michael,
You need to contact these guys to see if you can snag a sample!

The fact that it heats AND cools is pretty slick.

I have a butter keeper that keeps the butter at room temperature. It holds the butter in a bell shaped top that is placed in the main jar. The jar has water so it forms an air tight seal around the butter so oxygen can't turn the butter rancid.
At $8 it's a lot cheaper than the wizard. |

The butter keeper is adequate as long as the ambient temperature is not too extreme; but if it becomes too cold then the butter will be too hard to spread and vice versa in the summer. The ButterWizard Alfille Temperature-Controlled Butter Dish is both able to heat and cool so ensures that your butter is kept at a constant spreading temperature 24 hours a day 7 days a week. It comes pre-set at 18.5 degrees Celsius/65.3 degrees Fahrenheit but you are able to change the temperature using the temperature adjustment dial to make it slightly harder or softer. Keeping the butter at a constant temperature gives less risk for rancidity than the fluctuating temperature of a normal butter dish. |
