I am looking for a high btu (50,000 btu) propane wok burner and ring. This is to be installed as a countertop build-in for a house. A stand alone that can be used indoors in the US will work also. |

Why not just use a turkey fryer base outside? |

I doubt anything like that will pass a residential building code, and will void your fire insurance policy. 15-18K btu will be about the most you can get from a very high quality, high output stove designed for kitchen use. You could get more with a restaurant burner, but that too will probably not pass a residential fire code and/or will require a very special installation. |

We went through this exercise when we remodeled our last house. We wound up with an Australian made glass countertop unit that had a high BTU "wok burner" with a special grill made to hold a wok. It was the highest BTU unit we could find, but nowhere near 50K!
I have found that concentrated heat right at the base of the wok does the trick, and that is the whole idea behind wok cooking. The unit we had worked great--I think 50K BTU is a bit of overkill. |

Ouch! Too pricey for a poor academic. |
