Place 1/2 apple in the cake box or, a slice of fresh bread fastened with toothpicks to the cut edge of a cake will keep the cake from drying out and getting stale. |

I would definitely consider the humidity and temp for this to work all the time. I think it would work under a range of conditions however too high temps and or humidity and you have a new source of bacteria/mold. |

I am a fan of Tupperware and find that foods just seem to stay fresh for so much longer. |

Those are some good ideas. Also,
1) Bake the cake with added pudding or yoghurt. It will be naturally moist longer.
2) Complete airtight seal of the pastry. Moisture will not be able to diffuse from the cake into a large amount of air and get dry. |

Some more ideas:
1) Brown sugar holds moisture better than white sugar, and will keep your cake tasting fresher longer. Honey is even better, but it will affect the taste of the cake.
2) Cinnamon and cloves inhibit staling and the growth of mold.
3) Brush the layers of the baked cake with simple syrup or liqueur before you frost them. |

Now i know why the cake i bake are always more moist than those in the picture of the recipe. I always replace the sugar with brown sugar~~ |

Never have had a problem with bread or cake getting dry and/or stale. It never lasts long enough.
