My wife and I are in the planning stage for our retirement home. We're pretty serious cooks and are considering an induction cooktop to replace gas(no natural gas in the canyon near Sedona where we'll be,just LP).Any recent experience from members in this area? Unfortunately , our cookwear has been obtained over several decades and while uniformly high quality, a fair number of stainless steel utinsels do not attract a magnet. All the All Clad does, but would prefer not to have to replace every large stockpot, dutch oven etc. with All Clad. Any suggestions re ferrous containing stainless lines which are good quality but less expensive (all our heavy Cuisinart fails the magnet test)? Thanks. |

I've used induction burners when traveling and I love them... but I would recommend replacing all your cookware. Induction cooktops require a perfectly flat, smooth bottom... cookware that has been used on regular stoves is generally slightly scratched and warped. |
