Hi! First, I just want to say that this is the coolest website!! My mom and I have shared many good times making marshmallows and many other recipes from this site.
Secondly, I was wondering if anybody knows any traditional dishes that originated in the Caribbean that slaves in Early American would have made/ eaten?
Many thanks to whoever can help me with this!! |

This is the National dish of Jamaica. It uses the Scotch bonnet pepper. Based on how popular this is and it's cooking method: long cooking stew: I would guess that it has been made there for very many years. It is also said that there were very many people who jumped off the Slave ships and lived in the Mountains. They may have been able to capture goats. The addition of Curry as a flavor may have come more recently, but nearly all spices can be grown. |
