Our late Queen liked these on long overseas journeys, it is said. So do I.
BUT
Tips on how to crisp up most of the pastry lid would be welcome. |

you may have fallen victim to "advertising"
here is the cover picture:
here is the reality, and it's not so flaky....
couple things you can try
over-(pre)heat the oven. the extra heat helps the crust puff up.
after 4-5 minutes reduce the heat, open door to spill the excess heat, continue bake.
if the top crust wants to burn, put the pie on a lower shelf, use a cookie sheet as a 'shield' from direct top heat.
if your oven has a 'convection mode' the air circulation can help keep the crust crispy.
this is my homespun chicken pot pie (4 serving size)
