Why does the butter that is available in the groceries today, not taste like the butter I grew up with? In the last few years the butter has tasted more like margarine than a sweet dairy butter. I have tried numerous brands and find all failing to meet the 'buttery' flavor I am looking for. Any ideas 'why'? |

It has less salt and seems more watery. I've noticed the same thing. If you have an Indian grocery in your area, try Amul butter. It's delicious! |

I tripped over a blurb on making your own butter with a KitchenAid -
I buy two cups of store brand sterilized pasteurized nukified whatever ,,, heavy whipping cream.
into the KA (lift bowl style) with the wire whisk, takes 15-20 minutes and you got homemade butter + real buttermilk.
you can squeeze out as much water as you wish.
the buttermilk is not a throw-away - it makes superb pancakes/waffles.
the peanut gallery has pronounced the homemade butter superior to store butter..... |
