I really need to get a meat grinder, the old-fashioned clamp-it-to-the-tabletop variety.

I won't be grinding more than a couple pounds at a time, at most. I'd do eBay, but with that sort of thing chances are pieces would be missing, broken, etc.

Any recommendations?

I'm NOT going to get a KitchenAid with a grinder attachment, just want something simple and cheap.

>>KA
yup. don't bother. I got a lift bowl KA - the machine as a mixer is superb.
the grinder and the pasta attachments are junk. they do not function as expected.

for a hand crank grinder, head for the flea markets / second hand shops.
if all the pieces are there, it'll last a long time.

do _not_ get into a bargain-with-missing-pcs thinking you can get the missing bit and come out ahead. most of the hand crank grinders are no longer in production / parts chain. either it's all there or it's scrap metal.

That's what I expect to do, Dilbert. I just wondered if there were any new gadgets on the market I've overlooked. I doubt you can even buy those old-time crank grinders anymore anywhere outside of a flea market.

Those are insanely cheap and just what I was looking for!

I just hope the quality is same as the old-fashioned kind, i.e., not made in China.

Many thanks.
