I went to stir fry some veggies in my mother's mother's mother's cast iron pan, on high. Had added some Hoisin sauce (lotsa sugar).

Forgot about it for 20 minutes....

My heart is broken! There was at least 60 years of seasoning on that thing, and it's gone -- all gone.

Need some commiseration, guys. :-( :-(

I'm going to see if I can't get someone to sandblast it. The outside has a half-century of baked on crud.

Then it's time for the bacon grease...
