A friend of mine knows that his electric oven is off calliber, but not by how much. I suggested that he bring the oven up to the desired temperature (or so says the oven) and throw a high-temp thermometer in for five minutes. I know that my method is flawed, but I can't think of anything else at the moment. I'm sure he could just buy one of those external-read thermometers, but he won't. Help.

An oven thermometer is $8 at WalMart, $9 at Target. Sometimes the easiest and most accurate thing to do is get the right tool for the job.
