hey guys I read the kitchen knives and decided to buy the victorinox fibrox RH Forschner 8 in Chef's knife. I looked it up on eBay and found that they also have a 7in. santoku knife wich looked pretty good. It has the oval cuts so the food doesn't stick to it.

what do'ya say? Is it as good as the 8in chef's knife, best, worst? (same brand, same fibrox construction, same price)

thanks

>>what do'ya say?

says I lottsa' stuff - but in this case without meaning.

there is a big difference in the profile of a chef's knife to a santoku.

I've got both. the santoku geometry is my fav for straight up&down chopping / mincing / dicing / slicing.

where I need a "rock&chop" action the chef's knife takes the lead.

they are two different tools - brand, style, handle, [whatever] aside - they are different tools.

if you cant up a straight bladed screwdriver on an angle, you might be able to twist on a Phillips head screw.

just because you _can_ doesn't mean it is just as good as a #2 Phillips.
