I don't much worry about getting all the spices/smell out of my Krups after using - mostly it doesn't make any appreciable difference to the final result and sometimes it leads to fortuitous and interesting results.

I use the same grinder for spices and coffee, too, but then I am quite fond of spiced coffee. I regularly grind various combinations of spices with my coffee beans, including smoked poblano chilies (my cousin owns Sparkling River Peppers which grow, smokes and sells these), cardamom, black pepper, allspice, coriander seed and ginger. -Gray

I think I've mentioned I use the same grinder for everything. If I've done chili powder or something, I just run some rice through it, brush it out, and almost all the previous odor is gone.
