My current method is to slice the stem end off, make a cross-wise slice at the other end, spear them with a fork at the stem end and dip in rapidly boiling water for about 12 seconds, then peel the skin off.

When you're doing this for 3-4 lbs of tomatoes it takes quite some time.

Anyone have a better idea?

I don't have a gas stove, BTW. I've thought of a torch...
