my son is overseas and he is trying to make a pecan pie and cannot find dar karo syrup over there.....what would be a good substitute for karo syrup that he might be able to find in New Zealand?

He could try substituting with honey with a touch of molasses. It'll probably be sweeter than straight corn syrup, but it should work. Or, he can use a 2 parts granulated sugar with one part water syrup to substitute.

By the way, this probably belongs in the Recipes category.
