Are the bells from a stock market (signaling the start and end of the day's trading?)

Cookie rings the dinner bell for dinner. Our hero attempts to eat dinner but chokes to death. The next day the cook rings the bell again to call the remaining cowboys to dinner.

Was the man inside the bell?

Is it the liberty bell? It rang, people died, then it rang again?

Is capstinence going to log back in to answer our questions?

I have this fear that I'll never know the answer to this puzzle and will have to resort to google to find the answer...

My dad told me this riddle when I was 8 it took me 2 years to get the whole thing answered.

I will be damned if i remember all of it.

I remember that he drowned.

and that the last bell was at his funeral from his church.

I emailed my dad. I asked him to tell me the whole answer.
He said" well you figured it out before" and that was it. lol

The Answer, if anyone is still paying attention:

A blind swimmer sets an alarm clock to tell him when and what direction to go to shore. The first bell is a buoy, which he mistakenly swims to, getting tired and drowning. Then the alarm clock goes off.

I would hazard a quess that the man died from electrical shock upon installing a door bell; a guest rings the bell at the wrong moment causing the man to be electrocuted. Then the guest unknowingly rings the bell the second time.

this doesn't make sense, if the buoy rang first why would he be tired?...I'm assuming the swimmer would know how long it would take for him/her to get tired.
