Why is it that cast Fe is not a "recommended" type of pan to use on glass cooktops (according to the manual that came with my new Kenmore glass top range.)

Just a guess, but perhaps because of the weight of cast iron. Too easy to drop it onto the glass.

I'd think cast iron might tend to scratch the glass, too, especially with repeated use over time.
