LOL... couldn't resist the thread for Microwave French Fries... after reading, I thought of generally the same thing: Microwave potatoes till they begin to soften, then fry. I do it all the time.

Great Variation: Fry about 2 or 3 pieces of bacon with some garlic and chopped onion in the pan. Take out the bacon, chop finely, return to the pan. slice your almost cooked potatoes into smaller cubes and fry in the bacon grease! YUM!!

Not the healthiest meal, but sinfully tasty!

Plug in the deep fryer.
Use scrubby to thoroughly wash two medium size potatoes. Do not peel.
Nuke potatoes for 1.5 minutes.
Cut into 3/8 inch fry slices.
Soak slices in cold water for at least 10 minutes.
Dry watered soaked slices with a clean dish towel.
Put one slice in oil to test temperature.
Put all remaining slices into fryer and fry until golden
Using two paper towel lined bowls, transfer french fried potatoes back and forth between bowls until the oil glisten is gone. Optionally salt.
Enjoy your french fries.

I had the idea of cutting the potato into french fry shapes, microwaving for a few minutes, sprinkling with a little flour, and then frying them in a pan with a little oil. They did not absorb much oil. I had to turn them so that all surfaces got crisped but the result was what I had hoped. I would do this from now on when I simply had to have some french fries.

If you can avoid using a microwave I RECOMMEND IT!!

Microwaves RUIN the food.... It is really unhealthy!! (Destorys nutrients in the food, etc)

While making french fries handling the usage of oil is essential. At the same time on needs to be aware of smoke points and different key points associated with a cooking oil.
