I got tired of buying a new peeler every couple years because mine would go dull.

I found this Kyocera Peeler
http://www.amazon.com/Kyocera-CP-09-BK-Vertical-Peeler/dp/B0017U7SLQ

on Amazon and LUV LUV LUV it.

It's a vertical model and only comes in a right-handed version.

They also make the horse-shoe version:

I can not stress how well this thing works. Wish I'd had one 20 years ago... For $9, how can you go wrong?

Another nice thing about the vertical version is that it doesn't seem to clog, like my OXO GoodGrips does.

I personally prefer the Y / yoke style - my "first" was that exact model.

although the ceramic blade stayed sharp, unfortunately the plastic "frame" that holds the blade broke after just a couple months. I replaced it with an OXO - stainless blade - the metal pivots in the handle proper tho.

Discovered that the ceramic blade needs a good cleaning with some oven cleaner and a toothbrush every so often or it becomes sticky (even though it looks clean) and doesn't work as well -- tends to clog.

Still love it! I can peel a butternut squash in a minute or two with the thing.
