When was the last time a full lunar eclipse happened on winter solstice? There is a full lunar eclipse on December 21, the winter solstice. When was the last time a full lunar eclipse happened on the same day as the winter solstice?

Where did you hear that there was a going to be a lunar eclipse this winter solstice? This information is false. The last lunar eclipse of 2012 will be on or around December 10.

To answer your question, the last time we had a lunar eclipse coinciding with the winter solstice was just two years ago in 2010.
