Because we didn't score a very good leftovers package from my brother's house on Thanksgiving, I decided to do a take-two, and bake a mini-Thanksgiving meal on Friday.
Got some Turkey thighs, squash, stuffing. It was all coming along fine, the kitchen smelling like heaven.
I had stuffed the acorn squashes with apples, and was drizzling a bit of orange juice and ginger over the apples.
Kablam! I spilled some of the cold juice onto the hot pyrex pan and it exploded, spewing glass all over the kitchen, and into the golden brown, crispy skinned turkey pan.
Sigh...tuna sandwiches....

Cooking in someone else's kitchen I discovered too late that they kept the dishwashing liquid in an old vegetable oil bottle. The grilled cheese sandwiches tasted ... unusual.

One day I was going to cook a whole chicken. I marinated the bird the night before so it could get a nice flavor. The next day I was kind of busy since early and I got tired, took a nap and put the chicken inside the oven. I continued with the hose chores for about two hours and I forget about the chicken. When my guests arrived I got scared because I thought the chicken was ruined and then I realized I never turned the oven on.

Christmas dinner is always a stressful time, but I was tasked with cooking for no less than thirty people... all by myself! Anyway, I used an iPhone app to convert some metric weights to imperial. Somehow (I suspect my 2-year-old), my iPhone ended up INSIDE the turkey, and left there when inside the oven! Yep, you read that right. Put it this way - I was in need of screen repair services after that one.....
