I have a new kitchen aid stand mixer and was wandering if any one had any idea on how you add ingredients to batter, while it s running or maybe your not suppose to add while its running. Is there a wrong and right way to do this? I know if its running would add ingredients on low speed, but wandering if its best to stop mixer like i do when i use my hand held mixer when i add ingredients.

It's completely up to you. It won't really make much of a difference.

Just don't get your fingers or containers tangled in the beater. Containers will end up across the room and fingers will become part of the batter. Those mixers have torque.

Add flour and other powders a little at a time at low speeds. It will just puff out and make a mess, otherwise.

Buy a splatter shield, they go on sale every once in a while.
