There is an article about NASA developing food replicators, in the current edition (no. 2513) of the magazine New Scientist:

Hope the link works, as the article is subscription only. Thought it worth mentioning, as many of you may have access to the magazine, but not look at it regularly.

Here is a fellow who claims to have a food replicator now, and also states that you can make one yourself.
