Has anyone tried or heard anything about the CIA Masters Collection Knives?

They look ok, but I doubt they're anything more than a name slapped on a run of the mill knife.

My recommendations fall squarely on Japanese cutlery.

I have a 5" cook's knife and was pleasantly surprised by the quality. They are European style and I am addicted to my Shuns, but for sharpness right out of the box it was pretty good.

I actually think it was the size I liked best because since I got a 6" Shun chef I don't use the CIA any more, but would if I didn't have the Shun.
